The Marshals Win Season Opener

Sunday March 18, 2007, Columbia, South Carolina

The Marshals won their season opener on Saturday night and spoiled the Columbia Stingers inaugural game in the NIFL.

The Marshals won by a final score of 49-34. The Marshals lead 19-16 late in the first half before Peni "The Sackin Samoan" Faitele picked up a fumble and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown to extend the Marshals lead to 26-16 at halftime.

The Marshals never relinquished their lead in the second half and the Stingers got no closer than thirteen points.

Antonio Davis threw for three touchdowns and ran in a fourth. Dayton area product Jon Cain was on the receiving end of two of Davis' touchdowns and Michael Larkin caught the third. Maurice Douse rushed for a five yard touchdown and also had a forty five yard kickoff return. Brandon Tisdale rounded out the scoring by recovering a Columbia fumble and returning it thirty yards for a touchdown.

The Marshals will host the Stingers at 7:00pm on March 24, 2007 in their first game at Hara Arena. Tickets are still available
