
Storm Survives Clash with Crush

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm faced the Colorado Crush on Sunday, March 20th in Fort Collins, Colorado in a game that Storm Nation may consider to be too close for comfort after being tied a total of six times.
The Storm were the first to score when Lorenzo Brown ran it in for a touchdown in the first two minutes of the game after a botched PAT attempt. Colorado answered when Washington received a 35-yard pass from Fleming, with Beuchert missing the extra point. Korey Williams of the Storm was then able to run it in after Brown handed it off for a touchdown. Kaiser of the Crush had a reception of 17 yards from Fleming, with Beuchert attaining the extra point. Storm surpassed Colorado after scoring back to back touchdowns - the first from Brandon Johnson-Farrell after a 46-yard kickoff return, and the second after a 37-yard run from Angelo Pease, and good kicks from Justin Syrovatka's, leaving the first quarter a 27-13 ball game.
Colorado's comeback was underway when Fleming scored adjacent touchdowns in the second quarter; both kicks from Beuchert were good. The Storm fired back after Brown ran it in to score, with a failed PAT attempt from Syrovatka. Elijah Fields then picked up a rouge point after Crush couldn't get the kickoff out of the end zone. Fleming of the Crush then passed it to Kaiser for a touchdown, ending the first half with a 34-34 score.
It was another neck and neck battle in the third quarter when Colorado's kicker, Beuchert, attained a 21-yard field goal. Pease responded with an 18-yard run in to score, and a good kick from Syrovatka. The Storm stopped the crush at the 17 yard line, but Beuchert was successful in achieving the field goal ending third quarter at 41-40, Storm.
Pease scored first in the fourth quarter with a 12-yard run, and a good kick from Syrovatka. Colorado was able to score again after Fleming threw a ten-yard pass to Washington and completed a two-point conversion. Brown then ran one in with 1:12 left on the clock. It came down to the last 13 seconds of the game where Colorado's Fleming threw a nine yard pass to Kaiser, scoring the touchdown, and the extra point from Beuchert, tying up the game. Only three seconds left on the clock, and it was up to Syrovatka to kick a 46-yard field goal, and succeeded, ending the game with a score of 58-55.
Quarterback, Lorenzo Brown, finished the game with 60 passing yards, 26 rushing yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. Angelo Pease lead the offense in 137 rushing yards, and three touchdowns. Korey Williams scored one touchdown, and received for 39 yards. Justin Syrovatka went six for seven, scoring a total of nine points. Tyler Knight ended the night with a total of 14 tackles.
The Sioux Falls Storm will be on the road to face the Cedar Rapids Titans for the second time this season on Saturday, March 26th at 7:05 PM. Storm beat the? ? Titans 54-45 in their last home game.
