Wichita Stealth News Release
Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Stealth (7-4) are set to take on the Rio Grande Valley Dorados (3-8) this Saturday night, July 3rd in Hidalgo, Texas. The Stealth faced the Dorados on May 8th in Hidalgo defeating them 35-28 in front of a sell out crowd. The Stealth are on a one game losing streak, while the Dorados are looking to snap out of a seven game losing streak.
If the last game between these two teams was any indication, then fans will be in for a defensive battle once again this week. The last time these two teams faced one another they were both in the top ten in the af2 in total defense and this time around it is no different. The Stealth enter the match-up ranked 4th in total defense giving up only 226.5 yards per game, while the Dorados are 3rd giving up only 226.2 yards per game.
Coming into this weekend's game, both teams will have different faces behind the center from when they faced each other last. The Stealth now start Jonathan Beasley, who has played four games and has gone 59-of-119 for 878 yards and 23 touchdowns. The Dorados will counter with Caleb Slover. Slover is an af2 veteran who has played in four games this season for the Dorados and has gone 61-of-115 for 683 yards and 15 touchdowns.
This game may come down to the play of the offensive lines on both teams. Wichita and Rio Grande Valley are ranked 3rd and 2nd respectively in sacks and both defensive units look to put pressure on the quarterbacks. Wichita has 27 sacks on the season and Rio Grande Valley has 28.
The Stealth are 2-3 on the road this season, while the Dorados are 2-3 in the confines of Dodge Arena. The Dorados last win at home was back on April 24, 2004 over the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz by a score of 44-41.
