Southwest Champ Dorados Announce Open Tryout, Player Signings

Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 (af2) today announced that the team will hold an open tryout on January 19 at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio. The team also announced the assignment of nine players to the 2008 roster.
Dorados Head Coach Marty Hammond and Associate Head Coach Cory Stone led the team to a 15-1 record last season en route to the division title while leading the league in a host of defensive categories.
The open tryout will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio (760 Stadium Drive, San Antonio, Texas, 78216). Players should wear running shoes designed for field turf and arrive in workout attire.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. The cost is $60 before and $80 day-of. Call 956-843-5658 for more information on registration.
The Dorados also announced the assignment of nine players by the af2 office. The Dorados received FB/LB's Jason Anthony, Landrick Brody and Quarius Hodges. The team also received OL/DL's Lorenzo Davis and Isaac Morales, DS Jerry McCloud and WR/DB's Joshua Gill, Patrick Horne and Robert Long.
Brody played for the Dorados in 2006 and appeared in seven games, posting 11 carries for 26 yards and a TD in addition to six tackles and one sack. McCloud has af2 experience with Green Bay and Oklahoma City and also spent time on the practice squad with AFL Austin.
The Dorados finished 15-1 in 2007 and won the Southwest Division title. The team kicks off their fifth season in arenafootball2 at Dodge Arena in April of 2008.
