Brooklyn, NY- The Erie BayHawks (6-13) were stalled by the Long Island Nets (7-14) today in Brooklyn, 107-114.
The BayHawks led by as many as 15 in the first quarter but after even play in the second quarter saw both teams score 30, the Nets outscored the BayHawks 28-16 in the third to take the lead 86-80.
The BayHawks gave up a 17-to-two run midway through the fourth quarter to allow the Nets to take a 10-point lead with 1:53 to play. Cliff Alexander hit on five straight points and TJ Price added one point on a free throw but the run would come too late and the Nets would steal the game.
Erie was led by a team-high 18 from Alexander on eight-of-16 shooting and seven rebounds. Anthony Brown had 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. In his third game with the BayHawks while on assignment from the Orlando Magic, C.J. Wilcox added 15 points and six rebounds. Branden Dawson, Gabe York, and Stephen Zimmerman all posted double-digit point totals.
Long Island was paced by a game-high 22 from Tauren Prince on eight-of-16 shooting from the field to go with eight rebounds. Yogi Ferrell and Chris McCullough each added 19 points apiece while Lazar Hayward notched 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
The BayHawks are on the road on Friday, January 6th to take on the Delaware 87ers. The team returns to Erie Insurance Arena on Saturday, January 7th for Pet Adoption & Zoo Night. Tickets are available at eriebayhawks.com or by calling 814-790-5600.
