Carolina Ghostriders News Release

Despite icy conditions, Head Coach Theron Davis of the Atlantic Indoor Football League's Carolina Sharks made the decision to go ahead with the free agent tryouts that were previously cancelled last week, due to bad weather.

Coach Davis was well rewarded Sunday for making that decision by signing three of the over 20 players that decided to show up for the tryouts.

The Sharks signed Daniel Duckworth, a linebacker/running back and former track star at Appalachian State, wide receiver Aleiene Washington, a wide receiver from North Carolina A&T and 6'6", 280-pound tight end Lavell Morrow, a former West Charlotte standout from Holyoke Community College.

Davis said, "I am very pleased with the talent that showed up today in this bad weather just to tryout for our team."

Not only with the three guys that we signed, but everyone that showed up here today. That really shows that the kids are very dedicated, and that tells a lot."

"I would say about two-thirds of those kids will be invited back to training camp in March so I can get a second look at them," Davis continued.

"I am very pleased with the turnout and the effort given here today and can't wait to see some of these kids in pads next month," Davis said.

The Sharks will start training camp March 19 and are looking to bring around 35 to 40 players from all of the previous tryout camps and workouts.

April 23 is the Sharks home opener against the Raleigh Rebels at the Cricket Arena in Charlotte, NC.
