Royals Drop Rockets in Game 1

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1, in the definition of a playoff affair, in Game 1 of Round 2 of the WHL Playoffs.

In what was a physical contest, the Royals showcased their team defence as they were backstopped by goaltender Coleman Vollrath who made 40 saves on the night. Victoria's Dante Hannoun scored the game winning goal early in the middle frame. The Royals' Jack Walker tallied the other goal. Kelowna's Tyson Baillie registered the lone goal for the visitors.

Rockets' netminder Michael Herringer turned away 29 of the 31 he faced on the night.

Both Victoria and Kelowna were 0/4=0.0% on the powerplay.
