RiverCity goes to 2-0 with 42-24 win

LAUREL, MARYLAND: The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team continued to roll with a strong 42-24 win on the road against the Maryland Maniacs. RiverCity is now 2-0 on the season and once again went over the 40-point mark on offense. The game was the first for the Maryland Maniacs in their franchise history and fall to 0-1 with the loss.

The Rage were led on offense by quarterback Dixie Wooten, who threw for five touchdown passes in the game and also ran in a score from four yards. He hit four different wide receivers for touchdowns, including two TD catches by first year Rage wideout James Dougherty. Luke McCardle, Maurice Avery, and Hurtis Chinn all caught touchdown passes for the Rage. Wooten now has 11 touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown through two games this season.

The Rage picked off three Maniac passes in the game, one a piece by Darnell Terrell, Daryon Brutley, and Pig Brown. Brutley now has two interceptions in two games, while former Missouri Tigers' Brown and Terrell recorded their first in a Rage uniform.

The win moved the Rage to 2-0 on the season and looking for a win at home in week three. The Rage started the year 3-0 in 2008, before going on to lose their next seven games of the year. The Rage will have a quick week of work with their week three game in just six days. The team will welcome the Saginaw Sting to town, who they beat 55-41 in week one, for their first home game of the year on Saturday, April 4th at 7:30pm. The first 2,000 fans through the doors at the Family Arena will receive a 2009 RiverCity Rage magnet schedule.
