RICHMOND, Va. (May 2, 2015) - The Richmond Raiders (3-4) defeated the Alabama Hammers (3-3) in Huntsville on Saturday night. This was the second time the two teams met this season, and the Raiders were able to accomplish the season sweep with an 87-58 victory. After a disappointing loss in Nashville last weekend, the Raiders were looking to get back on track this week, and they were able to do just that.

Initially, it seemed that both teams came out evenly matched as scores were traded back and forth throughout the first three quarters, and the game would go on to see six ties in all before the night was done. WR Herb Jones would start the scoring for the Raiders with two big touchdowns in the first quarter to match Alabama scores. The Raiders were then able to capitalize on a DL Christian Lacey fumble recovery by scoring on the ensuing set of plays to build momentum going into half time. They would take a 51-44 lead going into the locker room and never looked back in the second half. Both the Raiders offense and defense would shine for the rest of the game, as the team would outscore the Hammers 29-0 in the fourth quarter, including a Kevin Allen touchdown off of a fumble recovery with just 16 seconds left in the game.

QB Jon Bane turned in a particularly stellar performance, completing 31 of 43 passes for 361 yards and 10 touchdowns. Newcomer WR Robert Holland also had a great outing, hauling in ten catches for 159 yards and four touchdowns. Bane connected with one of his favorite targets, WR Gerron Bryant an impressive 13 times, allowing Bryant to rack up 117 yards and two touchdowns. WR Herb Jones notched three touchdowns, and DL James Carter was able to get on the board, as well. Defensively, the Raiders were able to force three fumbles and return one for a touchdown.

For Alabama, QB Garrett Sutphen was 18 of 39 on passing for five touchdowns. Sutphen also ran for three more scores. He connected with WR Mico McSwain for two touchdowns and WR Maurice Dupree for three. McSwain and Dupree were also the top receivers on the night as McSwain caught seven catches for 133 yards, and Dupree had four catches for 76 yards.

The Raiders are next in action Sunday May 10, as they travel to Erie to take on the Explosion. The team returns home on May 23 when they face the Trenton Freedom for McDonald's Night-Lovin' RVA. Tickets for all remaining home games start as low as $7 and are available on the Raiders' website, www.RichmondRaidersProFootball.com, or by calling 1-855-GO-RAIDERS or 804-780-0430. Additionally, fans can contact the Richmond Coliseum box office or visit ticketmaster.com.
