Richardson's Buzzer-Beater Sinks Legends

RENO, NV- The Texas Legends (1-2) faced the Reno Bighorns (1-4) Tuesday night in their second of a three-game road trip. The Legends led by as many as 12, but faced a tied scoreboard with seconds remaining. Malachi Richardson beat the clock with a jumper to steal the victory for the home team.

The Bighorns took off to an early lead, going up by eight midway through the first. Skal Labissiere powered out 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting, but the Legends used a balanced scoring attack to rebound to an eight-point advantage at the buzzer. Bryson Fonville opened the second with a long ball to extend the lead for Texas. The Legends found their largest lead of the night +12 before the momentum changed and the home team powered out 10 unanswered points. The Legends' shooting went cold sinking to 33.3% overall and 20% from outside.

The Bighorns' carried a six-point advantage into halftime and maintained the lead through the third quarter. With eight minutes to play, the Legends regained control and the two teams struggled for the lead. The match was tied for most of the final two minutes, but the jumper from Richardson would land before the buzzer to seal Texas' fate.

Jameel Warney led the Legends with 24 points and added 7 rebounds while Manny Harris grabbed the team's only double-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds.

The Bighorns were led by Lamar Patterson with 27 points followed closely by Richardson with 26. Isaiah Cousins added 16 points, 10 rebounds and Kings' assignee Georgios Papagiannis added 10 points, 10 rebounds.
