
Rage Falls to Wild 56-40

WICHITA, KANSAS: The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team fell to 3-1 on the season after losing 56-40 on the road to the Wichita Wild. The Wild improved to 1-2 on the season as 3,025 fans witnessed the first victory in franchise history at the brand new Hartman Arena.
The Rage fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter but battled back to take the lead when Randy Bell forced a one-point rouge with seven minutes to go in the game. Wild receiver Clinton Solomon scored on a 19-yard strike from Derek Rasmussen, his second score of the game, and Teon Wilson scored on a fumble recovery in the end zone by quarterback Dixie Wooten cap off a Wild victory.
Wooten came into the game after starting quarterback Ben Sankey was injured on the Rage's second play from scrimmage. Wooten finished 13-of-30 for 139 yards and four touchdown passes. Luke McArdle caught eight passes for 86 yards and a score while Hurtis Chinn had three receptions, including a 45-yard touchdown catch at the end of the first half. Wide receiver Tyrone Timmons, playing in his first game since week one, caught two passes which both went for touchdowns.
On defense, the Rage forced two turnovers, both of which were returned for touchdowns. University of Missouri product Cornelius "Pig" Brown recorded his second interception of the year and took it the distance for a 37-yard score. Linebacker Pat Jackson picked up a fourth quarter fumble and ran it back 39-yards for his first touchdown in a Rage uniform.
The Wild racked up 271 yards of total offense, including 101 yards on the ground by tailback Darius Fudge. Rasmussen finished the day 12-of-24 for 175 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Kick returner Randy Kelly provided the team with a spark after running back a Rage kickoff 59-yards for a touchdown, which was the longest scoring play in Wild team history.
On Saturday, April 18th the Rage will return home for the first of four home games at the Family Arena in St. Charles. The Rage will get a chance at redemption against the Wild on Saturday, with kickoff set for 7:30pm. The first 1,000 fans, ten-years of age or younger through the doors at the Family Arena will receive a 2009 RiverCity Rage Youth Replica Jersey.
