RACERS DEAL MYERS TO THE SCRAP YARD DAWGS Deal moves Myers closer to family
AKRON, OH- The Akron Racers announced today that they have dealt veteran, Nerissa Myers to the Scarp Yard Dawgs for the 20th pick in the 2016 NPF Senior Draft and the Dawgs 5th round selection (overall # TBD) in the 2017 draft. In making the trade, Joey Arrietta, GM of the Racers, acknowledged Myers? desire to move closer to her family, a key consideration.
?In my discussions with Nerissa about her future in the league, family was a factor. She is extremely close to former Racers? outfielder and cousin, Brianna Cherry who now plays for the Dallas Charge,? describes Arrietta. ?I have always been committed to retaining the best players in the game in the NPF and expanding options for players after college. I look forward to filling the vacated roster spot with another extremely talented player.?
In two years with the Racers, Myers batted .338 with 74 RBI, hit 18 home runs and scored 58 runs. Myers also stole six bases. After leading the team in hits (50), runs (35), RBI (43), and home runs (9) in 2014, Myers numbers tailed off a bit in 2015 batting .311, with 23 runs scored and 31 RBI.
The Racers open their 2016 season on the road against the Rebellion on May 31th but return to Akron for their home opener, June 8-10 against Rebellion and then June 11-13 against the Dallas Charge.
