Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
(Moline, Ill.) - The arenafootball2 league and the Quad City Steamwheelers announced today the transfer of the right to operate the Steamwheelers from Friday Night Football, LLC., to A&J Football Inc.
"This transfer of the right to operate the Steamwheelers is a positive step for the af2 in that it ensures us that one of our original league members will continue to call the Quad Cities area its home for years to come," said af2 President Jerry Kurz. "The Steamwheelers have established themselves as a fixture in the community through the years thanks to a commitment to excellence both on and off the football field. We anticipate a smooth transition among the two groups involved and a bright future ahead for the franchise."
A&J Football Inc., is headed by Alan Millage and Joe Sisler, but has over 35 different local investors involved.
"We are excited to be able to announce the return of the Steamwheelers for its 10th season in the af2," said Millage, who is the spokesperson for A&J Football. "We have a great group of investors who are committed to ensuring that the Steamwheelers are here for the long term. The Steamwheelers have a great history in the Quad Cities and that started with Arena Football Founder Jim Foster and has continued with Larry Bush and Mike Bawden. All of these people and their group of investors have laid the ground work for this organization and we hope to be able to take it to the next level of stability."
Shawn Brown remains on as the Vice President/General Manager of the Quad City Steamwheelers where he will oversee the day to day operations of the organization and its staff.
"This will be my seventh season with this organization," said Brown. "There have been some good times and challenging times over the previous six seasons. During that time, we have played a major role within this community and we are glad to continue to provide entertainment throughout the spring and summer that helps contribute to the quality of life in the Quad Cities."
The team looks forward to unveiling the 10th anniversary logo and several new community outreach programs over the course of the next couple of weeks.
Early Bird Season Ticket Deadline Fast Approaching
Fans wishing to purchase Steamwheelers season tickets at the early bird rate starting as low as $65 for adults and $32 for children need to make a $50 deposit on their tickets by September 8th. Fans who reserve season tickets by September 8 will also receive a 10th anniversary mini-helmet.
"Our season ticket renewals are going very well right now," said Brown. "However, due to the Labor Day holiday and a lot of people preparing to leave town we have decided to extend the deadline one week to give people additional time to get deposits into the office."
After the September 8th deadline, season ticket prices will revert to the normal season ticket rate with pricing starting as low as $80 for adults and $40 for children.
