Biloxi Shuckers News Release
BILOXI, MS - For the second time this week, a Biloxi Shuckers' utility man has been promoted within the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Dylan Moore was sent to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in a move announced by the Brewers on Thursday afternoon.
Moore, who was signed to a minor league contract as a free agent prior to the start of the season, began the year on the Shuckers roster and has contributed up and down the lineup. The product of the University of Central Florida has slashed .373/.429/.639/.1.067 in 24 games this season, going 31-for-83 with 12 runs scored, 18 RBI, three home runs, seven doubles, three triples and a team-high six stolen bases. Moore's .373 average ranks fifth among qualifying hitters in the Southern League.
The 25-year-old was originally selected in the seventh round out of UCF by the Texas Rangers in 2015. In August of 2016, he was traded to the Atlanta Braves organization, where he finished out the final ten games of his season hitting .343 (12-for-35) with the (then Atlanta affiliate) Carolina Mudcats.
In 2017, Moore played in 122 games with the Mississippi Braves, hitting .207 while belting seven home runs and 15 doubles. Moore was released by Atlanta before being picked up by the Brewers in the offseason. Prior to his promotion, Moore has raked with a .448 average (22-for-49) over Biloxi's last four series. The utility man spent time manning six different position and leaves Biloxi with a 15-game on-base streak. He has also fallen one hit shy of the cycle on two separate occasions this season.
Moore joins Nick Franklin as Biloxi's second promotion this week. Other promotions in 2018 include Tristan Archer, Nick Ramirez, Angel Ventura and Adrian Houser.
In a corresponding move, the Brewers have signed infielder Darren Seferina and placed his on Biloxi's roster. The 24-year-old native of Willemstad, Curacao was released earlier in the month by the St. Louis Cardinals after appearing in 20 games with Double-A Springfield. The former fifth-round pick in 2014 hit .278 in 2017 in 118 games split between Springfield and Advanced-A Palm Beach with 67 runs scored, seven home runs, 17 doubles and 19 stolen bases.
Biloxi continues a five-game series in Montgomery against the Biscuits through Friday before coming home for a ten-game homestand, starting Saturday night at 6:35 PM CT.
