Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release
EL SEGUNDO - Los Angeles point guard Josh Magette has been named the NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Monday, Feb. 6, through Sunday, Feb. 12, the league announced today. It is the first weekly honor of Magette's career and the third for the D-Fenders this season.
Magette (6-1, 175) averaged 24.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.5 steals in the week while guiding Los Angeles to a 3-1 record. The former Alabama-Huntsville standout scored a career-high 31 points to go along with a career-high-tying six three-pointers on Saturday versus Oklahoma City. He followed that performance by totaling 26 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in a Sunday win against Austin. Overall in the week's four games, Magette added three double-doubles to increase his total to 14 on the year.
The third-year D-Fender currently sits at No. 8 on the league's all-time assists list, and he has already established himself as L.A.'s all-time leader in assists and steals. A first-time NBA D-League All-Star selection this season, Magette leads the league in assists (9.4), assist/turnover ratio (3.62) and assist percentage (.360) among players that have appeared in at least half of their team's games.
Magette - along with teammates Vander Blue, Justin Harper and the D-Fenders coaching staff - will be in action at this weekend's D-League All-Star Game, set for 11:30 a.m. PT on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
