Rome Renegades News Release

While Rome's Renegades ended the 2006 season on a sour note with a 61.40 loss in American Bowl 2 to the Canton Ohio Legends, the 2006 season was a record smashing year for several of the men in silver and black.

Lew Thomas crushed Travis Booker's season rushing record with an even 400 yards on the ground. Thomas also shattered the record for carries in a season with 109 and tied Booker's record for most carries in a game with 14 against Florence back on March 24th, He also now holds the rushing touchdowns in a season mark with 18. Perry Tisdale had the old record with 13 last year.

Marcus Brady, who left the Renegades at mid-season to join the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League shattered virtually all of the Renegades passing marks. He broke Bo Bartik's old record for attempts in a game with 43 against Augusta on April 1st. His 314 yards through the air against Chattahoochee Valley in April bested Bartik's 2005 single game mark of 206 yards. That same game, Brady had 8 TD passes, bettering the 6 Bartik threw against Billings a year ago and his 35 TD passes for the season, in only eight games, shattered Bartik's record of 25 set last year. Similarly, Brady threw for 2002 yards, easily surpassing the 1411 Bartik tossed for last year.

Gerald Gales led the receiving corps with 118 catches for 1843 yards, both new records for the Renegades. He led the way in the 'Gades inaugural season with 68 catches for 674 yards. His 37 TD catches almost tripled Clinton Rafe's record of 13 last year. He caught a record 12 passes in games against Richmond and Carolina and now holds the single game yardage record of 180 against Raleigh. He caught four TD passes in games against Richmond and Raleigh, more records for the star from the Univ. of West Alabama. Gales scored 234 points this year, more than doubling last years mark of 107 points shared by Brian Tracy and Travis Booker. Andrew Amerson, from Cal State Northridge also bested several of last years receiving records with 73 catches, 910 yards and 15 touchdowns.

We'll have a summary of the 2007 defensive records next week.
