Knicks Knock off BayHawks to Open Day Three of Showcase

January 20, 2017 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario- The Westchester Knicks (12-12) overcame a 15-point third-quarter deficit to defeat the Erie BayHawks (7-18), 118-114, to tip off Day Three at NBA D-League Showcase.

Courtney Fells scored 22 points, including the go-ahead free throws with just under two minutes remaining, and added five assists as Westchester snapped its two-game skid to improve to .500 on the season. Von Wafer came off the bench to score a team-high 23 points, including three three-pointers, and also added five rebounds and five assists in the victory.

Erie was methodically stretching its lead to as many as 15 through the first two and a half quarters before a 25-6 Westchester run gave the Knicks a 95-91 advantage with 9:58 remaining in regulation.

The back-and-forth fourth quarter saw seven lead changes and five ties, but Fells' go-ahead free throws and a late defensive stand with just under a minute to play gave Westchester the edge for good. The Knicks then knocked down 3-of-4 free throws in the final minute to seal the come-from-behind win.

In the victory, Jordon Crawford poured in 16 points off the bench on 7-of-9 shooting to go with four assists, three boards and two steals in 31 minutes of playing time. Meanwhile, Damien Inglis chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Gabe York led Erie by scoring 20 of 32 points in the second half, while Anthony Brown notched 19 points, but the BayHawks have dropped six of seven games. Kalin Lucas tallied 16 points and dished out five assists in 30 minutes of relief for Erie and Stephen Zimmerman also contributed 16 points to go with five boards.

Erie finished its showcase with a 0-2 record and next plays host to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. ET. NBA TV will air Westchester's final showcase game on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. ET vs. the Canton Charge.
