Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

Knoxville, TN - Joshua Ranalli scored off a rebound at 3:46 of overtime and the Huntsville Havoc beat the Knoxville Ice Bears 3-2 Friday night. Knoxville extended its point streak to eight games, but fell to 0-4 in games decided in overtime this season.

A Huntsville shot from the high slot was saved by Brian Billet, but Ranalli was waiting outside the crease when the rebound came right to him and slid the puck into the open net. Knoxville was skating shorthanded during the extra frame after Trevor Hertz received a double minor for high sticking John McGinnis.

Knoxville opened the scoring when Danny Cesarz took the puck down the right wing during a 2-on-1. He slid the puck across to the high slot where Garrett Vermeersch slapped a one-timer past Kevin Genoe at 12:18 of the second. Huntsville responded with 1:40 remaining in the period when a Jason Popek shot form the half board was deflected in front by Kyle McNeil and bounced over the right shoulder of Billet.

Huntsville took its first lead early in the third when Bennett Schneider's shot from the point was deflected by Bo Driscoll and lifted over Billet's left leg. The Ice Bears tied the game when Brad Pawlowski slid a backhand from the right hashmark past the outstretched leg of Genoe. It was Pawlowski's tenth goal of the season, the most in the league among defensemen.

Knoxville travels to Columbus on Saturday. Huntsville will head to Pensacola next Friday.
