Hammerheads Set To Open Home Season

Corpus Christi, TX - The Corpus Christi Hammerheads (0-2) open their home schedule this Saturday night at the American Bank Center against the Rio Grande Valley Magic (1-2) at 7:05pm.
The two teams have already met once this season back on March 27th with the Magic coming away with their only win of the season 33-19. The Hammerheads though have changed things up since that last game. The addition of new Head Coach Dustin Almond and two weeks of intense practice have given the team a new look and more focus.
"I think the biggest difference is the discipline and accountability Coach Almond has instilled at practice", said Hammerheads Defensive Back Henry Hall. " There seems to be more focus and preparation going on this week as we get ready for Saturday night", he added.
Hammerheads rookie QB Anthony Andre echoed Hall assessment. "I really feel ready to go out there Saturday night. Coach Almond has really helped me understand what's going on and how to read the field".
While no one is saying Saturday night home opener is a must win situation, the team is well aware that they already trail the first place Houston Stallions by 2.5 games. Additionally, a loss would also give division rival Rio Grande two head to head wins against Corpus Christi.
Saturday night's game is not only fans first opportunity to see the team in person but also benefits the March of Dimes. $5 of every upper reserved ticket will be given to the Charity. The Hammerheads will also feature special Jerseys that will be auctioned of following the game with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the March of Dimes. Additionally the first 500 kids 12 and under will receive a free youth jersey at the door.
