Greensboro Scores Two in Ninth to Beat Legends

The Greensboro Grasshoppers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Lexington Legends 9-8 Sunday in Greensboro.

The Legends jumped out a 3-0 in the first inning on a three-run homer by Zach Johnson, but Greensboro came back with six runs in the bottom of the second as the Legends committed three errors in the inning and six in the game.

The Legends came back with two runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Delino DeShields Jr. and Jordan Scott. Scott was 3-for-4 in the game and is now 8-for-13 on the season.

Greensboro added a run in the sixth, but the Legends tied it on Matt Duffy's two run single in the seventh and went ahead 8-7 on Miles Hamblin's solo homer in the eighth.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Grasshoppers loaded the bases on a single by Terrence Dayleg, an error by pitcher Scott Zuloaga on attempted sacrifice by Ryan Goetz and a walk to James Wooster. Josh Adams singled home the tying run against reliever Jason Chowning, and Tony Caldwell walked to force in the winning run.

Greensboro won three out of four in the series. The Legends play in Hagerstown Monday night at 7:05 p.m.
