Grand Rapids Drive Lose on the Road to Canton, 106-89

CANTON, Ohio - The Grand Rapids Drive were shorthanded on Tuesday night against the hottest team in the D-League.

The Drive lost 106-89 to the Canton Charge in front of 1,986 fans at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. Canton has won six in a row and 13 of their last 15 games. They are second in the Central Division at 18-13.

Grand Rapids, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, falls to 14-14.

The Drive was playing without guards Spencer Dinwiddie and Lorenzo Brown. Dinwiddie was recalled by the Pistons on Monday and Brown is nursing an injury.

Devin Ebanks had his 10th double-double of the season for the Drive. The 6-foot-9 forward out of West Virginia had 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Grand Rapids forward Dahntay Jones tied his season high with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Kelsey Barlow had 16 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Ebanks had 16 points at the break as the Drive trailed 50-41 at halftime.

Nick Minnerath and Sir'Dominic Pointer each had 17 points to lead Canton. Guard Quinn Cook had 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds and eight assists.

Before the game, the D-League announced that Brown will be replaced on the roster for Saturday's All-Star Game due to an injury. Brown, who is averaging 16 points and six assists, will be replaced by Westchester center Jordan Bachynski and Texas guard Tu Holloway. Bachyinski is the older brother of the Drive's Dallin Bachynski.

The Drive return home Wednesday night when they host the Erie BayHawks for a 7 p.m. contest at the DeltaPlex Arena.
