Georgia Force News Release

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA- The Georgia Force conducted their first practice of Day 3 at 8:30 a.m. and re-convened for a second practice at 3 p.m.

Following a brief stretching period, the team worked on kickoff returns and later broke into position groups for some more additional work. During the one-on-one drills, rookie QB Tom Arth connected with rookie WR Chad Cone and WR Carl Morris for touchdowns. Cone was also a recipient of a QB Chris Greisen touchdown pass later in the period. Rookie DBs Damian Daniels and Cam Newton tallied pass defenses to highlight the defensive effort. Greisen continued to take strides in a positive direction by hitting WR Brent Holmes and Morris in the endzone for offensive scores in the team session of practice. FB/LB Matt Huebner also tallied a rushing touchdown during that portion of practice. The defense was led by a forced fumble by DB Stephen Cason on the goal line and was recovered by DB Hamin Milligan in the back of the endzone. Newton also tallied another pass defense before the morning practice ended.

The afternoon practice featured highly contested battles between the wide receivers and defensive backs. In one-on-ones Cason and rookie WR Chris Baker squared off on several occasions with Cason winning most of the match ups. After pressing Baker against the boards on one play, Cason deflected an under thrown pass from Arth that was intended for Baker on the next. The offense began to execute during the three-on-three drills, as Holmes and rookie WR Antwone Savage hauled in touchdown grabs. Morris' leaping grab in the back of the endzone from Arth ended the three-on-three drills. Seven-year AFL veteran DE Jermaine Smith recorded a sack of Arth during the situational period, but Arth retuned the favor with a rushing touchdown on a boot-leg in team. Newly acquired WR Craig Yeast caught a quick-pitch from QB Ben Dougherty and scampered 35 yards for a score late in the session.

"This is one of the most competitive camps I have been around," said WR/LB & Special Teams Coach Dialleo Burks. "We have a long way to go, but the guys seem to catching onto what we are teaching. It will be nice to have Orlando in here the next couple of days to see how we stack up."

Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16, the Force will host combined workouts with the Orlando Predators at their Flowery Branch practice facility.
