May 15, 2007 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Lakeland ThunderBolts News Release

The Lakeland Thunderbolts avenged an earlier loss by beating the Tallahassee Titans 51 - 24.The 8 -2 Thunderbolts set the tone of the game with an Aso Pogi to Don Robinson touchdown pass on the opening play. The T-Bolts never looked back. Tallahassee (9 - 3) beat Lakeland 48-40 last month. The win gives the Thunderbolts a tie for first place and potential home field advantage for the playoffs.

"We came out focused and ready to play" said head coach Teddy Keaton. "Everyone was aware of what was at stake. We worked hard this week and came out ready to win.Having home field advantage for the playoffs is very important" Keaton said.

"We had a tremendous effort from the defense. They stayed focused and gave a solid effort" said defensive coordinator Pat Dooley."My guys played tough tonight and overcame injury, they sucked it up and played" Dooley said. The defense put on a great show stopping the Titans time and time again. The defense had six sacks and two interceptions holding the Titans to just 141 total yards.Defensive back Larry Thompson, who is leading the league in interceptions, picked off a Reggie Bell pass late in the third quarter and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown.

"This was a big game for us.The offensive line was outstanding tonight allowing us to run the ball more. Jermaine Blakely had an A performance tonight" said offensive coordinator Kenny Johnson.Blakely had nine carries for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns."The passing game was also solid" Johnson said.Quarterback Aso Pogi went 23- 13 -0 and threw 4 touchdown passes. Receivers A.J Bennett caught 4 passes for 92 yards and 3 touchdowns and Don Robinson caught 5 passes for 60 yards and 1 touchdown.

"The key to winning the championship is to continue focusing each week on our next opponent and not the championship. We still have several good teams to play and lack of focus could keep us from getting there" Keaton said.

The Thunderbolts play their next two games on the road starting with the Montgomery Bears this Saturday night. The next and finial regular season home game is Saturday June 2nd. The theme will be fan appreciation night.
