Flyers to Host First Birthday Bash

FORT WORTH, Texas, November 13, 2006 - The Fort Worth Flyers will celebrate the team's one-year anniversary in Fort Worth with a celebration and open house on November 17-18 at the Fort Worth Convention Center. All events are free and open to the public.

"This event will provide us with another opportunity to reach out to the Fort Worth community and thank them for their support of the Flyers during the inaugural season," said team president Ken Nicholson. "And, it also gives us the opportunity to showcase our home court at the Fort Worth Convention Center."

The open house will provide all fans with an opportunity to gain a firsthand look at the intimate seating arrangement of the Convention Center. Fans that purchase season ticket and flex book (ten game vouchers) packages will have the chance to choose their seat for the 2006-07 season.

The festivities will begin on Friday, November 17 at noon as the Flyers "Roll Out the Red Carpet" for area businesses. CEOs will have the opportunity to compete in a "CEO Shootout" free throw contest benefiting the nonprofit organization of their choice held in honor of the late Charles Gaines, Fort Worth Fire Department Chief and Flyers advisory board member.

Employees that attend to cheer on their bosses in the executive shootout will have the opportunity to participate in an individual free throw contest and win exciting prizes. All guests will enjoy free food and drinks and have the opportunity to meet former NBA All-Pro and Flyers head coach Sidney Moncrief and various Flyers players.

Saturday's activities will also begin at noon with a birthday celebration and free birthday cake. At 1 p.m. the Flyers and Austin Toros will take the court in an exhibition game. The game will include a performance by the FlyGirls, the official dance team of the Flyers presented by Digicom, as well as a free throw contest for youth age 12 and under to be held during halftime. The winner of the free throw contest will receive a trip for two to Los Angeles to watch the Flyers take on the Los Angeles

D-Fenders.

Fans in attendance will also have the opportunity to get autographs from Moncrief and fellow NBA legend Dennis Johnson, head coach of the Austin Toros, as well as from various Flyers players and FlyGirls. Big Shot, the high-flying mascot of the Flyers, will also be on hand to offer entertainment.

Kids can enjoy the kids zone featuring interactive inflatables and various activities, and Flyers merchandise will be on sale in the arena concourse.

Flyers season ticket, group and flex book packages are on sale now and offer various options for fun, affordable entertainment.

The Fort Worth Flyers home opener is Friday, December 1st against the Bakersfield Jam at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The regular season tips off Saturday, November 25 against the Austin Toros in Austin, Texas. For more information, log on to fwflyers.com or call (817) 698-8333.
