Erie Explosion News Release
Today team owners Bill Stafford of the Erie Explosion and Bill Mattis of the ASI Panthers agreed to play a game on Sunday April 26, 2015 in the Erie Insurance Arena.
This agreement was signed by both parties to fill a game date left open by the suspension of operations by the Harrisburg Stampede. The Professional Indoor Football League ( PIFL) asked each team to develop options to fill openings in the league game schedule with a minimum of disruption for all teams and has done so now for all home games.
Bill Stafford said, "As owner of the Erie Explosion I am pleased by the professionalism shown by the PIFL and the AIF (American Indoor Football) to work together for the good of the sport. John Morris has been with indoor football for ten years or more supporting this exciting game. He has seen the many phases indoor football has gone through and chose to step up for the good of the sport. For that gesture, I thank John Morris and Bill Mattis of the ASI Panthers for their help to put this game on."
The Erie Explosion and the ASI Panthers are very familiar to each other. Both owners know each other, but also do both head coaches. Shawn Liotta of the Erie Explosion and Bernie Nowotarski of the Panthers. Each coach knows the sport and game very well. They also have coached against each other when they coached for other teams in other leagues.
"This is going to be a great opportunity to show how leagues can cooperate", said Stafford, "We look forward to providing another great game full of exciting hard hitting football and good family entertainment." "The game theme will be "The Environmental Game" and very important for us to host and play for the Erie community. Our goal, besides good football, is to be part of the greater Erie area and support ongoing issues. The theme of the Environment Erie will give people and fans a great game experience, but also learn the people and organizations helping to protect and preserve our environment."
Follow the details for the game on the Explosion website, Facebook, Twitter, and You-Tube. Several updates will be coming on radio and local television.
