Rome Renegades News Release

The 2006 Rome Renegade season ended three touchdowns short of an AIFL championship against the Canton Legends earlier this month, but several Rome defenders set new franchise records during the 2006 season.

Charles Jones set a new season record with 17 interceptions. Jones and fellow 'Pick-Pack' defender Jermaine Collins also broke the single game record with 3 interceptions in a game. Jones did it twice, versus Richmond in the season opener February 27th and again versus Augusta May 19th. Collins had three thefts against Carolina on March 10th.

John Bowman set the new single season sack mark with nine in less than half a season before joining the Montreal Alouettes. Leon Moore set a new single game mark with three against Augusta on April 1st.

Linebacker Jamal Greer set a new team mark with 106 tackles on the season while Russell Green set a new single game mark with 15 tackles against Chattahoochee Valley in the first round of the play-offs June 19th.

The Renegades ended the 2006 season as the American Indoor Football League's Southern Division champions, losing in the title game to Canton 61-40.
