D-Fenders Acquire Jeff Ayres

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired Jeff Ayres as a returning player, it was announced today by General Manager Nick Mazzella. The 6-foot-9 forward returns to Los Angeles after appearing in two games with the team last season.

Ayres was a 2016 NBA D-League All-Star a year ago, averaging 16.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game in 27 contests with the Idaho Stampede and D-Fenders, ultimately receiving an NBA Call-Up to the Los Angeles Clippers on March 16. He most recently played for CSKA Moscow, averaging 5.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per game for the Russian club.

The former Arizona State standout has appeared in 237 career NBA games for the Trail Blazers, Pacers, Spurs and Clippers, with career averages of 2.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.8 minutes.

Ayres is expected to be in action for the D-Fenders tonight against the Salt Lake City Stars, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. at the Toyota Sports Center.
