Fort Collins, CO - With a 69-28 win against the Wyoming Cavalry the Colorado Ice, awaiting confirmation with the league, gain first place of the Intense Conference and more importantly currently have a hold of home field advantage in the playoffs.
Quarterback Willie Copeland started off the game with a 15-yard touchdown run. He had 186 passing yards for the night and four touchdowns in total.
Running back Randy Bell has proved his talent as he was the night's Runza Player of the game and touchdown leader with three total touchdown, two rushing one receiving as well as 39 rushing yards. He came to the team just in time as running back Dennis Kennedy was injured a couple weeks ago.
Kyle Kaiser was the leading receiver with two touchdowns and 114 yards total including a 45-yard touchdown pass.
The Colorado defense continues to do nothing else but dominate. Linebacker Joe Thornton had one sack, two interceptions, one for a touchdown and two blocked field goals. The Ice defense didn't allow a Cavalry third down attempt in the first half and the Cavalry were only able to complete one of seven third down attempts during the game. The Cavalry had 110 yards in total and only one rushing yard. The Cavalry really hurt themselves in penalties as they had nine penalties to amount to 147 yards 110 of those yards happened in the first half.
The Ice return home to host the Green Bay Blizzard at the Budweiser Events Center in their last home game of the regular season, Saturday June 7 at 6:00pm.
