Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release
The Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings announced today that Jon Norris has re-signed a two- year contract as the team's Head Coach. The BattleWings are previous Southwest Division Champions and have also earned three straight playoff appearances. They will be switching from Arena Football 2 and entering the newly formed Arena Football 1 league next spring.
"There was never a doubt in my mind who I wanted leading this team going forward," said BattleWings' owner Dan Newman. "Jon has been a huge asset to us - both on the field and in the community."
Norris will enter his fourth year at the team's helm when play begins for the 2010 season - the BattleWings' tenth anniversary. In just his first season he steered the Wings to their first playoff berth in team history.
Coach Norris says, "I am excited about the future of Arena Football. Our program has made great strides in my 3 years here. Our community has continued to grow its support for the BattleWings. We are ready to bring a championship to Bossier-Shreveport!"
Open tryouts for interested players will be Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 12:00p.m. at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La.
The team can also begin signing players effective immediately. A first draft of the team's 2010 schedule should be completed soon and the final scheduled released before the end of the month.
