Colorado Crush News Release

FORT COLLINS, CO - The rivalry between the Colorado ICE and the Billings Outlaws was alive and well Saturday night as the ICE lost to the Billings Outlaws 46-41 in what proved to be a nail-biting IFL regular season home opener.

Garrett Mehl of the Colorado ICE opened the scoring with a 28 yard run in the first quarter at the 2:06 mark. The ICE defense started off strong by not allowing any points for the Outlaws. However, the Outlaws scored three touchdowns in the second quarter at 11:08, 4:05, 0:03 and a safety at 1:10 and forced the ICE to score none, ending the half with Billings up 20-7.

The second half's pace sped up with each team scoring back and forth. ICE quarterback Justin Holland connected with Cory Sleeth in three explosive plays during the fourth quarter, adding three more touchdowns for the ICE and keeping the pace with the Outlaws. After Sleeth's third touchdown at the 1:05 mark with a score of 46-41, ICE defensive back DJ Craft recovered the onside kick attempt, giving the ICE the chance to score and win the game. The ICE hopes of a comeback were dashed as Holland's attempt ended as Outlaws defensive back Kadafi Tunsil intercepted the pass. Outlaws quarterback Chris Dixon kneeled twice to run out the time and sealed the 46-41 victory for Billings.

The Colorado ICE next home game will be Saturday, April 11th against Bloomington Extreme.
