The Canton Charge (1-3), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, were defeated by the Memphis Hustle (2-2), 124-117, in their first home game at the Memorial Civic Center for the 2017-18 season. Memphis takes the first-ever matchup between the two teams in their lone matchup of the season.
Seven Memphis players scored in double figures, led by Ivan Rabb's double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds with two steals and two blocks in 34 minutes. Omari Johnson scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting in 32 minutes for the Hustle. Jeremy Morgan came off the bench to add 16 points and two blocks in 27 minutes. Kobi Simmons had 15 points and six assists in 38 minutes.
Canton's JaCorey Williams led all scorers with 25 points on 11-of-13 shooting with 11 rebounds in 35 minutes. John Holland netted 22 points with eight assists and three steals in 39 minutes. Kendrick Perkins scored 18 points, grabbed six boards and swatted two blocks in 29 minutes. Marcus Thornton scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds in 43 minutes.
Canton hits the road for a pair of division games beginning with a matchup against the Grand Rapids Drive on Saturday, November 18th at 7:00 p.m. The Charge come back home for Youth Football Night presented by the Pro Football Hall of Fame against the Long Island Nets (Brooklyn Nets) on Saturday, November 25th at 7:00 p.m. The first 1,500 fans 16 & under will receive a Charge youth football, and adults will receive a 2-for-1 admission pass form the Pro Football Hall of Fame!
