
Bighorns Fall at the Buzzer to the Blue

OKLAHOMA CITY ---- The Reno Bighorns (5-11) fell 109-108 to the Oklahoma City Blue (11-7) Wednesday night at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
Sacramento Kings Affiliate Player Isiah Cousins led the Bighorns with 30 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals while Reggie Hearn poured in 18 points, five rebounds and two assists. Affiliate player Chane Behanan scored 16 points, five rebounds and three steals as Will Davis logged his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Daniel Hamilton paced the Blue recording a triple-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists while Josh Huestis notched 17 points and seven rebounds.
The Bighorns took control of the game early, going on a 20-2 run behind two triples from Hearn to lead the Blue by 18 mid-way through the first frame. The Bighorns continued to keep the Blue out of striking distance, ensuring a 10-point advantage by the end of the first quarter.
The Blue cut the deficit to nine points to open the second frame before Behanan made a dunk shot followed by a triple to give the Bighorns another double-digit lead. The teams remained scoreless for three minutes until Jannero Pargo hit a triple to make it a 42-31 Bighorns game at the 6:15 mark. The Bighorns' momentum remained to open their lead to as many as 15 points. The Bighorns went into the locker room at the half with a 52-42 lead.
The Blue came out of the break going on a 15-5 run to edge the Bighorns 58-57 with 7:25 to play in the third quarter. Cousins hit a three at the 7:03 mark before the Blue responded with a triple from Josh Huestis. Hearn answered with a triple to give the Bighorns a four-point advantage. The Blue cut the deficit to one point before the Bighorns pulled away to have a 78-72 lead after Cousins made a three with a little under a minute left in the frame. Boubacar Moungoro scored three at the 24.6 mark making it a 78-75 game at the end of the third frame. Cousins went 3-3 from three-point range in the third quarter.
Two threes from Cousins gave the Bighorns a 101-93 lead at the mid-way point of the final frame. The Blue went on an 8-2 run knotting the score up at 103 with 1:43 left in play. A running lay-up shot by Kameron Woods gave the Blue a two-point lead before the Bighorns retook control of the lead after a lay-up from Patterson. Behanan went to the line and scored one to give the Bighorns a 108-105 lead. With 5.0 left in play, Hamilton made a layup to edge the Bighorns 108-107. On the final possession, Behanan would in-bound the ball to Patterson, who made a pass that was stolen by Hamilton who made a lay-up to secure a 109-108 victory over the Bighorns.
Cousins scored 20 points behind a 7-10 (.100 3pt%) shooting effort in the second half.
The Bighorns will next travel to Frisco, Texas to face the Texas Legends on Friday, Dec. 30 at 5:30 P.M PST.
