HIDALGO, TX - A Gerald Beverly putback as time expired gave the Canton Charge (7-9), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, a 109-107 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (14-6) in front of 5,738 at State Farm Arena on Tuesday afternoon.
The winner capped off a terrific fourth quarter where the Charge outscored the hosts 29-17 en route to staying a perfect 4-0 all-time at RGV. Cleveland Cavaliers two-way player London Perrantes tied a franchise record with seven made threes on eleven attempts to tally a game-high 29 points to go along with eight assists in 42 minutes. JaCorey Williams posted a double-double of 19 points and 13 boards with two steals and four assists in 32 minutes. Beverly finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, two steals and four blocks in 24 valuable minutes off the bench.
Isaiah Hartenstein led the three Vipers who scored 20+ with 22 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in 31 minutes. Briante Webber nearly has a triple-double with his line of 21 points with 11 assists, nine rebounds and six steals over 39 minutes. Monte Morris scored 20 points and dished six assists in 40 minutes.
Kendrick Perkins added 14 points and four boards in 25 minutes for Canton. Isaac Hamilton scored 12 points in his first start of the season and Arthur Edwards came off the bench to supply 12 points of his own in 19 minutes. Today was the first Charge win in eight games of trailing entering the fourth quarter.
