Pensacola Barracudas News Release
Pensacola, FLâThe Pensacola Barracudas put up their first win of the season in a 72-6 blowout over the Mobile Wizards in front of almost 4,000 fans Friday night in "The Tank". The Barracudas scored early and often, as Bobby Clayton hit Jack Walker on the first offensive play from scrimmage to put Pensacola up 7-0.
The victory came when Pensacola needed one most. The Barracudas improve to 1-2 on the season and dropped Mobile to 0-4 on the year.
Jasper Pendergrass got the âCudas back on the board on the first play of the second quarter with a one yard blast up the middle, and after that touchdown the route was on. Ben Labelle bowled his way for three touchdown carries, and Jerrian James added a touchdown and three interceptions for Pensacola defensively, as the Barracudas dominated on both sides of the ball.
Anthony Crenshaw picked up his first career touchdown in the second quarter when a Ben Labelle sack of Mobile quarterback Billy Luckie jarred the ball loose in the end zone.
Jack Walker added his second touchdown of the night from the hand of Bobby Clayton late in the third quarter, and Nick Iano also piled on two receiving touchdowns earning Mike Buck his first win as the Barracudas head coach. The Barracudas 72 points is the second most ever in club history, and the six points allowed on defense are the fewest ever given up by a Pensacola team.
Jerrian James and Ben Labelle shared game MVP honors. Labelle took home Ironman of the Game honors, and James locked down the ADT Defensive Player of the game award for his three interceptions.
The Barracudas host Bossier City next Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Pensacola Civic Center.
