Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - Stetson Allie hit a solo go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Altoona Curve a 9-7 win against the Harrisburg Senators on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Tied at 7-7 entering the bottom of the eighth, Allie led off the frame with a home run to straight-away center field to give the Curve an 8-7 lead. The blast was the 49th of Allie's Altoona career, and he is now six home runs shy of tying Adam Hyzdu and Josh Bonifay for the franchise home run record of 55.

Altoona (63-51) broke a franchise record by winning its tenth straight home game, surpassing a nine-game winning streak from July 2 - July 23, 2001. Harrisburg (61-54) dropped its fourth game over its last five contests.

Jared Lakind (Win, 4-1) retired the first two batters in the ninth inning and Montana DuRapau (Save, 20) induced a Shawn Pleffner pinch-hit fly out to close out his 20th save of the season, which is the best among all active players in the Eastern League.

Altoona scored in bottom of the first inning on a Jin-De Jhang RBI single but Harrisburg responded with a run in the top of the second on a Spencer Kieboom RBI double, tying the game at 1-1.

The Curve took a 4-1 lead in the second on an Elvis Escobar RBI single and a two-run single from Erich Weiss.

Harrisburg tied the game again, this time at 4-4, in the top of the third inning on RBI hits from Jose Marmolejos and Adrian Sanchez.

Altoona answered with a two-run home run from Barrett Barnes in the bottom of the third, his second home run of the season and first since May 2, to give the Curve a lead at 6-4.

The Curve extended their lead to 7-4 in the fourth inning on a Kevin Newman sacrifice fly that plated Elvis Escobar.

Curve starter Brandon Waddell allowed four runs, but only one was earned, on six hits in five innings of work, while he walked two and struck out three.

Harrisburg responded with a pair of runs in the seventh inning against Altoona reliever Brett McKinney on the second Marmolejos RBI single of the evening and Isaac Ballou scored on a double play for the first two outs of the inning to bring the Senators within 7-6.

The Senators tied the game on an Andrew Stevenson RBI single against Lakind in the top of the eighth inning, setting the table for Allie's go-ahead home run in the bottom half.

Escobar, Weiss and Jhang all recorded three-hit nights for Altoona, and Escobar scored three runs for the Curve.

The Curve and Senators continue their series on Wednesday at 7 p.m. from PNG Field. Altoona right-hander Tyler Eppler (7-8, 3.81) gets the start, opposing Harrisburg righty Erick Fedde, who will make his Double-A debut. Wednesday is 4-Pack Wednesday, M&T Bank Card Wednesday and Student Rush Wednesday presented by Loyal Gaming Rewards as well as Wing Wednesday.
