
Santa Cruz Notches Sixth Straight Win

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Texas Legends in a 120-104 victory Wednesday night to improve to 25-13 on the season. Seven different Warriors scored in double-figures, marking the third loss Santa Cruz handed to the Legends this season.
Santa Cruz was led by Darington Hobson, who saw his first start this season and recorded his second triple-double of his career. He finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Aaron Craft had 25 points, 4 assists, and a game-high of 6 steals. Mychel Thompson added 20 points and 6 assists, while Golden State Warriors assignment player Ognjen Kuzmic, recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
The Legends received a solid performance from Eric Griffin who scored 25 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and had a game-high of 3 blocked shots. Jarrid Famous (15 points, 15 rebounds) and Mike James (19 points, 10 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles for Texas.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth of trading baskets, complete with 8 lead changes and 5 ties. Though the Warriors outshot the Legends (57%-44%), Eric Griffin boosted the Legends in the opening frame, remaining perfect from the field for 14 points to grab a 32-31 advantage.
The teams would grapple with another tightly-contested second quarter, but the Legends would pull away behind Jarrid Famous's 10 second quarter points, giving Texas the 10-point lead heading into the break.
The Warriors emerged from halftime sharpshooting their way to a lead they would never relinquish for the remainder of the game. Mychel Thompson scored 12 third quarter points, including four made three-pointers to give the Warriors the 5-point lead heading into the final frame.
Aaron Craft and Taylor Griffin would grab 10 points apiece in the fourth quarter as the Warriors coasted to victory over the Legends. The win mark's Santa Cruz's sixth straight win, their longest streak of the season.
The Santa Cruz Warriors will host the Idaho Stampede in a weekend double-header tipping off this Friday at 7:00 p.m. PST at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
