Warriors Dropped by Bakersfield

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors were defeated at home by the Bakersfield Jam 102-96 Tuesday night.

The Warriors were paced by Dominique Sutton who notched a double-double, tallying 19 points and 13 rebounds. Mychel Thompson also added 19 points, while Ognjen Kuzmic, currently on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, notched a double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds.

Bakersfield was led by their two assignment players in Reggie Bullock who had a game-high 26 points, and Archie Goodwin, who had 22 points in the victory. Mac Koshwal recorded a double-double, with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Santa Cruz started out the game strong, sharpshooting their way to a 14-2 lead behind Mychel Thompson's quick 8-point shooting spree in the opening minutes. Santa Cruz's greatest lead was as many as 18 points in the first half, but would head into the break leading by three points after Bakersfield's late second quarter rally.

Santa Cruz was outscored in the third frame and would begin the fourth quarter at a four-point deficit. The final period saw tightly-contested play until the final minute of the game. Jamil Wilson hit a three-pointer with just under a minute left in the game that gave Bakersfield the 94-91 lead .The Jam would go on a 7-0 run to end the contest would decide the victory for the visiting squad.

The Warriors will take on the Oklahoma City Blue on February 17th at 5:00 p.m. PST upon returning from the All-Star break.
