Legends Announce Make-A-Wish North Texas Charity Jersey Night

December 18, 2014 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TX (Dec. 18, 2014) - The Texas Legends are proud to announce their Friday, December 19th home game will be Make-A-Wish North Texas Night presented by Ryan, LLC. Every 38 minutes Make-A-Wish grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States. On Friday, the Legends in partnership with Ryan, LLC will grant one of those wishes for a young boy in our North Dallas community.

16 year old Zach Steger from Richardson, TX was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Zach was referred to Make-A-Wish Foundation in January 2014 and could have wished for anything - to visit the beach, meet an admired celebrity or have an array of the latest electronics. But Zach thought beyond his own interests and wanted to help others. Zach has a true passion for basketball and has been a member of the Dallas Junior Wheelchair Mavericks for eight years. For his wish, Zach asked to help provide new uniforms for his team. He knows how hard his teammates work to be on the court and wants them to look and feel like the true champions they are.

The Texas Legends, Ryan, LLC and Make-A-Wish North Texas have worked together and will present Zach and his teammates with brand new, authentic NBA caliber jerseys during half-time of the Legends home game on Friday night. Zach will also have another surprise from Donnie Nelson, General Manager of the Dallas Mavericks and Owner of the Texas Legends. Donnie will designate Zach as "General Manager" during Friday's game. "I am excited to announce Zach Steger as the official General Manager of the Texas Legends for Friday's game. Zach will get a chance to see what it's like to be a GM in the NBA and NBA D-League first hand. Thanks to Brint Ryan and Ryan, LLC for their investment in the community and organizations like Make-A-Wish North Texas, the true Texas Legends!"

"Ryan's success has resulted in substantial rewards for our associates, and it is their generosity and our Firm's culture of giving back to the community that have inspired our partnership with the Texas Legends," said G. Brint Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Ryan. "On behalf of our entire Firm, we are honored to support Zach and sincerely admire his selfless attitude and desire to help others."
