Grand Rapids Drive News Release

ERIE, Pa. - December 6 - Willie Reed had 13 points and 14 rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Grand Rapids Drive snapped a four-game winning streak.

The Drive, who were down by as many as 29 points, rallied to make it close in a 93-82 loss to the Erie Bayhawks on Saturday night.

Lorenzo Brown, a guard out of North Carolina State, had a team-high 17 points and nine rebounds for the Drive (4-4), who have held opponents to under 100 points for the sixth consecutive game.

Tony Mitchell, who is on assignment from the Detroit Pistons, finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds and a season-high 4 blocked shots. Reed, a 6-foot-10 forward out of Saint Louis, now has three double-double in five games with the Drive. Adonis Thomas, Kelsey Barlow and L.D. Williams each added nine points.

Seth Curry, a guard out of Duke University, led all scorers with 29 points and eight assists for Erie (5-4). Drew Crawford, who played at Northwestern, added 27 points and 10 rebounds. Curry is fifth in the D-League with 24 points per game.

Grand Rapids, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, continues its four-game road trip on Dec. 12-13 when it plays back-to-back days in Fort Wayne. The team returns home Dec. 20 when it hosts Fort Wayne.

The Drive's newest player, Manny Atkins, spent an extra day in Erie. The Drive acquired Atkins, a 6-foot-7 forward, on Friday from the Sioux Falls Skyforce for a sixth-round draft pick in next year's NBA D-League Draft. The Skyforce played in Erie on Friday night, so Atkins just waited in town to meet his new Drive teammates on Saturday. He was inactive for the game.
