Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

JUPITER, FL - It wasn't pretty but the Hammerheads salvaged the second game of Sunday's twin bill winning on a walk-off wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning. The 6-5 walk-off win helped the Sharks earn a split of the doubleheader with Charlotte after falling in the first game 4-1.

With the game tied at five in the bottom of the seventh of game two, Matt Juengel started the rally with a single. Blake Barber would follow with a single to center as Juengel motored to third.

Juengel would break for home when Ryan Garton threw a pitch in the dirt that got by the catcher Maxx Tissenbaum. The ball took a favorable bounce off the wall behind the plate as Tissenbaum shoved the ball to Garton, but Juengel slid under the tag to give the Sharks the win.

The Hammerheads fell behind 4-0 after four innings in game two, but they would storm back to take the lead in the fifth.

With no outs the Sharks loaded the bases thanks to a pair of singles and a walk before third baseman could not corral a grounder off the bat of Justin Bohn as Anthony Gomez scored to put Jupiter on the board.

The Hammerheads would pick up two more runs on a wild pitch and a grounder to cut the deficit to 4-3. Juengel would then single up the middle to plate Bohn tying the game at four.

After Blake Barber singled to move Juengel over to second, Juan Avila singled to center to give the Sharks a 5-4 advantage.

The lead wouldn't last long as an error by the third baseman ended up costing the Sharks and Charlotte tied the game on a sac fly by Tissenbaum. Two innings later Juengel would slide home with the winning run.

In game one the Hammerheads were limited to just five hits as the only offense was provided by Juengel who drove home Bohn with a single in the fifth inning.

Derek Dietrich played his first rehab game with the Sharks in game one. He started at second base and played five innings in the field. He went 0-for-2 with a walk.

The Hammerheads will have their final off day of the season on Monday before beginning another Fins vs. Feathers series with the Palm Beach Cardinals on Tuesday. Jupiter will be the road team for the first two games before playing as the home team on Thursday.
