Ontario Fury News Release

ONTARIO, CALIF. --- The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, scored three second period goals to open a 3-1 lead they would never lose as they defeated the San Diego Sockers Premier in a US Open Cup match at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Tino Nunez, Majell Aterado and Mikel Palmerin each scored two goals as the Fury advanced to a round of 32 game against the San Diego Sockers, which will be contested as part of the two team's regularly scheduled PASL game Dec. 28.

San Diego's Brian Lewis opened the scoring, the fourth straight game the Fury gave up the first goal. But Ontario scored the next three to take control of the game.

Tiguinho put Ontario on the board, taking a give-and-go feed from Jhonaton Bravo and blasting it home early in the period. Bravo proved to be unselfish on the night, earning a game-high five assists.

The two teams traded tallies in the third, with Ontario finally able to pull away in the fourth, as Nunez and Palmerin netted back-to-back goals to open up a three-goal lead.

Ontario's Manny Kaji had nine saves off 14 shots to pick up the victory and backup Goalie Christian Vidaurrazaga was a perfect 3 for 3. San Diego's Riley Swift finished with 19 saves on 27 shots.

Ontario hits the road for the next three games, starting with a doubleheader in Mexico against Monterrey (Dec. 20) and then Saltillo (Dec. 21).

The Fury will return home at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4th against Toros Mexico.. Tickets are on sale at the Citizens Business Bank box office or online at cbbankarena.com. A 3-game mini plan and group ticket packages are available through the Ontario Fury. For information, go to the Fury's website at ontariofury.com.
