Waza Flo News Release

The only thing freezing last night was the temperature, as rivals Detroit WAZA FLO and Cleveland Freeze came to play.

Waza Flo got out to a quick start with a goal by Darrell Quinn at 1:20 in. The high energy continued in the first half with two goals by Miki Djerisilo and when Drew Ducker pulled the goalie out and slipped one past him at 5:15 it made it 4-0. Waza Flo Keeper Joey Kapinos made several big saves in a flurry of shots, but the Freeze finally broke through with a goal by Ostergren to end the half.

The thaw was over and the Freeze scored the next three goals to tie it up 4-4. Detroit got back in it with two more goals by Djerisilo making in 6-4, but the Freeze notched two at the end of the 3rd. Cleveland had the momentum to take their first lead of the game 7-6 at 1:11 in the quarter, but Waza Flo fought back to tie with a goal from Otieno at 7:23 and Lopes shot the winner at 11:05.

"This league has had great improvement every year now and we realize that we must bring intensity every moment, every shift. I'm very happy we won." He continued on to say, "We have a lot to do and could use more fan support from the soccer community. The team and I are thankful for the families and fans who came out."

Detroit goes to 2-1 on the season.
