Wichita B-52s Home Opener vs Illinois Report and Trip to Las Vegas this WeekendNovember 12, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) Wichita B-52s
"The atmosphere was beyond believable. Soccer belongs in this town, without a doubt. Walking on [the pitch], even just during warm-ups, things felt like home. When we went down 3 goals right away, we knew that the support was still there for us to rally back and go on and get the win. Scoring a game winning goal is always going to be memorable, but the team is much more important than myself. I am asked by our coaches to do certain things and one in which is to score goals. We did that, and we won." Matt Clare, Midfielder, described.
"I am very pleased with the outcome here tonight, not to say that we played the best possible game we can, but because when we made mistakes, we made up for them. The guys fought hard for each other every shift, stayed positive, and pulled it out in the end. We still have a lot of room for improvement and will strive every week to get better and better, which is all I can ask from the team. If we are making progress in the right direction then everything else will take care of itself. I gave the players the weekend to enjoy the win but on Monday, it is time to focus and use the week's training to prepare for Las Vegas, a very good team that is currently undefeated." said Coach Larry Inlow.

They had their eye on the Ron Newman Cup, but were knocked out in the semi-finals by the San Diego Sockers, who when on to win it all. The Legends are 3 and 0 in their second PASL season having defeated Bay Area Rosal, Sacramento Surge, and the Toros Mexico, all of the Pacific Division. The B-52s are hoping to see a return of veteran Defender Chris Lemons from injury to halt the league's current leading goal-scorer Enrique Tovar.
Next Saturday, November 23rd, the B-52s will be back at Hartman Arena to face Hidalgo La Fiera at 7:05pm. La Fiera were the Central Division's runner-up last year and Ron Newman Cup semi-finalists, getting eliminated by Detroit. Currently, the La Fiera boast the same 1 and 1 record as Wichita. But the visitors will have two matches before ours, one of which is against Tulsa the night before coming to Wichita in a double-header weekend. They opened their season to a record crowd of over 9,600 in Monterrey, Mexico and narrowly lost in overtime. They bounced right back in their home opener and beat the Texas Strikers 13-1.
