Mobile BayBears News Release

The BayBears are pleased to announce that Mobile BayBears' manager, Andy Green, has been named Southern League Manager of the Year as voted upon by the league's field managers, radio broadcasters and print media.

The Lexington, Kentucky native is the third BayBears manager to win Manager of the Year after Turner Ward in 2011 and Mike Ramsey in 1998. He led the 2012 Missoula Osprey to a 41-35 record. Green is the eleventh manager in the history of the BayBears.

In his first year managing the BayBears, Green led the Back-to-Back Defending Champions to both the first and second half division titles. The BayBears finished the season with an impressive overall record of 79-60, which is a winning percentage of .568, just ahead of Tennessee's .551.

Green was given a talented team this year, including Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher and All-Star starting pitcher Archie Bradley (12-5) as well as eight others who were selected for the league's mid-season All Star Game. Outfielder Justin Greene captured the Southern League batting title with a .308 batting average and tied for second in the league with nine triples. Ender Inciarte, also an outfielder, led the league with 43 stolen bases and finished third in the league with 131 hits. Third baseman Nick Evans finished among the leaders in home runs and RBI. Andy Green now looks to lead the BayBears to a third-straight Southern League Championship .
