FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 17, 2013) - The Fort Myers Miracle used a sac bunt and took advantage of an error to earn a 6-5 walk off win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Monday at Hammond Stadium.

With the scored tied 5-5, Andy Leer led off the bottom of the ninth with a single against Travis Miller. Levi Michael followed with a walk, bringing Aderling Mejia to the plate. Mejia laid a sac bunt down the third base line and Danny Stienstra threw wildly past first to allowing pinch runner Candido Pimentel to trot home for the victory.

The Miracle trailed for most of the game, but Mejia erased a 3-2 deficit when he lined a two-out, two-run double down the left field line in the seventh off of Danny Miranda. Stephen Wickens followed with another RBI double high off the wall in left to add an insurance run to make it 5-3.

However, the Cardinals battled back in the eighth. David Popkins tagged Chad Rodgers with a leadoff single, and after a fly out, Nick Longmire singled to chase Rodgers. Zack Jones entered the game but allowed a single to load the bases and then walked in a run to make it 5-4. An RBI double from Colin Walsh tied the game 5-5.

The Cardinals took an early lead in the first inning when Jonathan Rodriguez lined a run-scoring double to left-center field against Miracle starter Manuel Soliman. That lead was short lived as Stephen Wickens belted his second home run of the year, a solo shot, off of Kurt Heyer.

The 1-1 score stood until the Cardinals put together five consecutive singles against Soliman in the fourth. The final two base hits from Ronny Gil and Colin Walsh each plated runs to make it 3-1.

Wickens went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Mejia was 2 for 4 and also had a double and a pair of RBIs.

Catcher Jairo Rodriguez had a three-hit game and Jhon Goncalves had two base hits.

Overall, the Miracle had 11 hits. The Cardinals had 14.

Jones suffered his second blown save but also earned his third win. Miller fell to 1-8.

The Miracle (44-21) and Cardinals (28-38) will meet again at Hammond Stadium on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Join the Voice of the Miracle Brice Zimmerman and Adam MacDonald for the broadcast beginning with the Square One Burgers and Bar pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
