Kansas City Comets News Release
KANSAS CITY - The U.S. Futsal National Team returned home as Champions of England's Four Nations Cup this week. The Comets were represented by Danny Waltman and John Sosa. Former Comets and University of Missouri-Kansas City player, Bryan Perez, was also selected for the team's roster that won all four games they played in the tournament.
Danny Waltman was selected as captain of the U.S. squad that started their undefeated run with a challenging 2-1 victory over host England on Thursday, then overpowered Malaysia 8-1 on Friday and hoisted the Four Nations cup with a 4-2 victory over Poland Sunday. Kraig Chiles and Machel Millwood were dominant contributors, scoring 10 of the U.S. team's 14 total goals; five goals each.
U.S. Futsal National Team Head Coach Keith Tozer:
On the team's performance..."I couldn't be more proud of this team, I stressed the importance of starting strong, not only to feel good about their performance, but to get the momentum started in their favor. They did that in beating England, which helped them in beating a very good team in Poland for the Championship."
On the play of the two Comets players... "I selected Danny (Waltman) as the team captain for his leadership and experience, having played with us last summer. He set the tone for us in a 2-1 victory over England and a 4-2 victory over Poland."
"John Sosa had a good tournament and we are glad he is now in the player pool. He showed a lot of good things for his first trip with the national side."
