Spikes Set For Home Opener Monday, June 17

STATE COLLEGE, PA - The State College Spikes' mix of fun, affordable family entertainment and future major league baseball stars is just two weeks away. The 2013 Home Opener, presented by PSECU and 95.3 FM 3WZ, will feature the Spikes against the Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies) at 7:05 p.m.

Highlighting the night will be the Year of the Millionth Fan Celebration, as the Spikes welcome their one-millionth fan through the gates during the night. Gates will open at the special time of 5 p.m. to the general public for the 7:05 p.m. game, and all fans 18 and over will be able to enter a drawing to be named the official "One Millionth Spikes Fan."

The winner of the "One Millionth Spikes Fan" drawing will receive season tickets for life, a "Millionth Fan" Spikes jersey, plus other great experiences and Spikes memorabilia. Best of all, the lucky fan will receive a chance to win $1,000,000 in the Million Dollar Dice Roll after the game.

In addition, the first 2,500 fans of all ages through the gates on Opening Night will receive a Spikes Schedule & Car Magnet, presented by PSECU. Fans will also be entertained by live music on the concourse from Sgt. Bob Timney until 5:30 p.m., with fan favorites AC Express following him on stage from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Pre-game entertainment also includes a performance by the stunt planes of the State College RC Club, who will be wowing the crowd after the game as well. To cap it all off, fans can enjoy an extended post-game FIREWORKS show presented by PSECU

The Spikes will start arriving in State College on Tuesday, June 11 and work out at the ballpark from June 12-16. Fans will be able to meet the team on Sunday, June 16 at the ballpark. Details of the Meet the Team event will be announced in the near future.

Opening Night starts an action-packed promotional slate that includes an appearance by "Mountain Man" from the hit A&E television series Duck Dynasty, presented by ServiceMaster by Holobinko & Merry Maids and BIG Froggy 101 on July 26, the return of Cowboy Monkey Rodeo to the ballpark, presented by NEWSRADIO 103, on August 14, and Bill O'Brien Bobblehead Giveaway Night, presented by The Nittany Lion Inn & The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel on August 28.
