Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON (Thursday, May 16, 2013) - Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis and goalkeeper Tally Hall were named to the U.S. men's national team roster by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann for upcoming World Cup qualifiers, U.S. Soccer announced today.
Davis will join the national team camp in Cleveland, Ohio on May 27 following Houston's game at Sporting Kansas City on May 26 and be with the team for its friendly against Belgium on May 29. Davis will be available to the national team through the World Cup qualifier against Honduras on June 18.
Hall will remain with the Dynamo through their match at the Columbus Crew on June 1 before joining the national team in Washington D.C. before its trip to Jamaica for a World Cup qualifier on June 7. Hall will return to the Dynamo following the match in Jamaica.
"We are very excited about the group we have put together," said Klinsmann. "The players understand more how we're working, what we're looking for, the way we want to play and the way we want to challenge big nations eye-to-eye. As we go into this stretch of two friendly games against Belgium and Germany and three big World Cup Qualifiers, we want to see more consistent performances. There is a huge opportunity to pick up a lot of points and put ourselves in a good position to qualify for Brazil."
Davis, 31, has earned seven caps with the U.S. men's national team, including an appearance in a 0-0 draw at Mexico on March 26 for his first cap in a World Cup qualifier. The five-time MLS All-Star has two goals and three assists in nine games this season for the Dynamo after scoring a career-high eight goals in 2012.
Hall will appear in his second senior national team camp after making his debut in January. The 2011 MLS All-Star has four shutouts in 11 games this season after posting a franchise best 12 shutouts in 2012. The San Diego State product earned his second straight Dynamo Ironman of the Year Award after starting 33 regular season games in 2012.
The upcoming matches continue the final round of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The U.S. will play seven more matches through Oct. 15, 2013 against the five remaining CONCACAF countries: Costa Rica, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico and Panama. The top three teams will advance to the 2014 World Cup, with the fourth place team advancing to a playoff series against the winner of the Oceania region. The USMNT are 1-1-1 through three games and sit in a three-way tie for second place in the group.
