
Oilers Assign David Musil, Martin Gernat and Travis Ewanyk to OKC

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers have assigned centerman Travis Ewanyk and defensemen Martin Gernat and David Musil from the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League to the Oklahoma City Barons.
Ewanyk, a 6-1, 184-pounder from St. Albert, Alberta was the Oilers third round draft choice (74th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. This season, the 19-year old played 58 games with the Oil Kings, scored 23 points (8-15-23) and served 119 penalty minutes. He played in 22 playoff games for the Oil Kings this season and registered 10 points (6-4-10).
The 19-year old Gernat has played in 83 games with the Oil Kings over the last two seasons. In those games, he registered 68 points (12-56-68) and served 60 penalty minutes. During the 2013 WHL playoffs, Gernat was the top scoring defenseman on the Oil Kings squad with 17 points (6-11-17) in 22 postseason contests. Gernat, a 6-5, 191-pounder from Kosice, Slovakia was the Oilers fifth round selection (122nd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Musil was acquired by the Oil Kings in a midseason trade with the Vancouver Giants. In 60 games between the two clubs this season, the 6-4, 203-pound Musil scored 31 points (9-22-31) and served 74 penalty minutes. In 22 playoff games, he registered six assists. Musil was the Oilers second round selection (31st overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
The Oil Kings were eliminated from the WHL playoffs in the league final by the Portland Winter Hawks in six games.
The Barons are locked in a tough playoff series with the Texas Stars. Tonight, the Barons host Game 3. Game 4 of the series is in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, while Game 5 is Thursday in Oklahoma City. Both games faceoff at 7 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center. The games can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY or viewed on a pay-per-view basis on AHL Live.
