Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves have re-signed goaltender MATT CLIMIE.
CLIMIE shared ninth in the American Hockey League last season with 24 victories and established career-bests with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage in 53 games with Chicago. He posted a 24-25-3 mark last year and his goals-against average shared 14th in the league while his save percentage tied for ninth in the circuit. The 30-year-old netminder also played the fourth-most minutes in the AHL last season with 3,094 and faced the fourth-most shots in the league at 1,577.
The Leduc, Alberta, native also rewrote Chicago's goaltender record book last year as he set two franchise records and tied two others. CLIMIE set a club record with five road shutouts last year and established a consecutive scoreless streak by not allowing a goal for 173 minutes, 57 seconds. He also tied Wendell Young's team mark of six shutouts in a single season and Michael Garnett's 13-straight starts mark.
Overall, the Bemidji State University alum has appeared in 189 career AHL games with the Iowa Stars, Houston Aeros, Texas Stars, San Antonio Rampage and Chicago from 2007-13, accumulating a 92-79-10 record and a 2.56 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.
CLIMIE also has posted a 2-2-0 record in five National Hockey League contests with the Dallas Stars (2008-10) and Phoenix Coyotes (2010-11).
In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
